EXCITING NEWS FROM THE WENZEL FAMILY!

Many of you have become aware of the horrors of human trafficking. It breaks our hearts to know that almost 3,300 children around the world are sold into the sex trade EVERY DAY! As we hear about this sickening reality, we often feel helpless to make a difference.

But there are ways you can help!

Our family is excited that God is leading Lloyd to serve full time with Remember Nhu, an organization that is working to prevent child sex slavery.

Operations Support Staff… Our primary role to begin with is to assist with Child-Sponsorship accounts. Connecting sponsors with the information they need to begin or continue in their financial support of their child.

DID YOU KNOW?

● Today there roughly 40 million people trapped in the unbearable violence of slavery—more people than over the course of the entire trans-Atlantic slave trade. 80% are women and 50% are children— and most are trapped in the sex trade.

● 1.2 million children are sold into the sex trade each year—almost 3,300 every day, one every 30 seconds, some as young as toddlers. Locked behind barred doors, these children are often forced to service more than 15 men per night.

● Sex trafficking is the fastest growing criminal industry in the world today and will soon surpass the drug industry. A drug can be sold once, but a child can be sold again and again and again.

● It costs approximately $4,500 to rescue one child from a brothel and $600/month for “after care”. An average of 82% of those rescued will return to the trade. Even those who remain out of the trade are forever emotionally and physically scarred.

WHAT IS UNIQUE ABOUT WHAT REMEMBER NHU IS DOING?

● Remember Nhu is cutting off the supply at its source. If we do not put an end to the supply of children, the horror will continue. We identify children who are at risk of being sold and literally “take them off the market” by offering them a safe home.

● For only $60 / month per child, Remember Nhu provides for all of the physical, educational, emotional and spiritual needs.

● Our children get the highest quality education to the highest level possible including college or vocational programs to ensure a safe financial future for each child post-sponsorship. Our commitment is to provide each child the means to be self-sustaining and to help their families; virtually ensuring their freedom.

● We believe the innocence of childhood is an inalienable right; once lost, it can never be restored. Our children come to us before they are exposed to the horrors of the sex trade and thus can mature into the joyful, healthy adults they were created to be in Christ.

OUR SUCCESS

Remember Nhu’s first Children's Home was opened in Cambodia in 2007. In just ten years, we have opened 75 homes in 14 countries and have more than 1,500 children living safely, experiencing and sharing the agape love of Christ.

The Wenzel's New Adventure

Dear Friends and Family,

Over the past 12 years, God has been giving us a burden for vulnerable children around the world. Through spending time in orphanages, seeing the street children in Ethiopia, and through the process of adoption, God has shown Kim and I His heart toward at-risk and forgotten children. Our prayer has been “Lord, whatever Your will is, we will do it”, and God has faithfully been growing us and preparing us for the next step He has for our family. This, we believe is to go full time, on staff, with Remember Nhu. We are so excited to see how God is working through Remember Nhu, an organization that is preventing hundreds of children around the world from being sold into sex slavery. This is a really big change for us, but we are excitedly jumping into those changes, because although Lloyd is stepping down from the security of his job of 31 years, we are stepping into God’s plans for us to work with Remember Nhu. Initially, Lloyd will be working full time from home helping with the administrative needs of Remember Nhu, specifically helping facilitate the child-sponsorship program. We will also be traveling periodically to visit the different Children’s Homes.

We would love to meet with you and tell you more about what God has been doing, both in our personal lives, and through Remember Nhu! Our greatest desire is to see others understand God’s heart for protecting these children from the horrors of being sold and abused, and giving them the opportunity to be safely taken care of by Christian house parents, educated, loved and ultimately come to know Jesus.

Yes, we do have financial needs, but Kim and I can truly say that we know God is our provider. We’d love to see others join us, to co-labor and grow together, as God leads the way in rescuing and caring for His precious children around the world. Will you partner with us on the journey?
